Education trends you need to look forward to in 2021

The current global situation has made people realize the gaps between the country’s education system. It suddenly has changed the way education is imparted and received. The traditional blackboard was replaced by PowerPoint presentations, students that used to sit on benches were now sitting in front of a computer screen, and examinations were conducted online.

We couldn’t help but wonder if a more organized version of this setting can become the future of our education system. The changes in the way teachers taught their students during pandemic sure had its challenges. It needed a lot of refining, better technology, and easier adaptability.

That being said, the coming year will see newer technologies integrated into the education system, better teaching techniques and practical learning will come to the forefront. However, that does not mean that academic learning will not be as important. The learning structure, in the next year, will be a brilliant mix of vocational and academic education balanced better than ever before.

Here are some of the educational trends that we think will dominate or begin rising in the year 2021.

Experiential Learning

Experiential learning is the process of learning something from experience. This may sound like a life concept, but it is just as successful in studies. Students will be encouraged to participate in workshops from various fields.

The National Education Policy proposed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of India was approved in July of 2020 which will be slowly implemented across the schools and other educational institutions in the country. The policy focuses on increasing vocational courses in schools to encourage students to choose the field of their liking.

Students will be learning from experts in different areas of art, communication, and social science to get hands-on experience of the skills they learn.

Experiential learning not only about learning how to do something, but it is also about what challenges you might face while doing it, and how to achieve desired results by overcoming those challenges.

AR and VR learning

People have already started playing games based on augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Devices like smartphones are already equipped with software that supports both.

The technology that is dominating the entertainment sphere will rise above to take over the educational sphere. This technology will help understand the concepts like never before. Moreover, teachers can use their creativity to enhance the use of such technology.

This technology will especially be very useful in higher studies like medical studies, fine arts, engineering, designing, etc.
The National Education Policyalso emphasizes incorporating AR and VR technology in different levels of education right from schools to colleges, universities, and adult education centers.

Mobile learning

During the lockdown, students have become familiar with online learning. Although the process was filled with many challenges and shortcomings, it also had some benefits to it.

It provided time flexibility of time and space that traditional classroom learning does not. Students can learn from the comfort of their houses without having to sit on an uncomfortable bench for hours.

Better options than a group video calling application will be used. For the same reason and more, schools will adopt school management software that also provides robust features to conduct a virtual class.

The school management system also provides a video tutorial that works as a library for students to access the video lecture whenever they want and however many times they need it.

That is an added benefit of using a school ERP, students or teachers will not have to save the recorded file on their devices (although they can if they want to!). The video lectures are saved on the cloud which can be accessed by students at any time and from any device, simply with their login information.

As more and more mobile devices are being used worldwide, the need for mobile learning will also increase.

Interactive Whiteboards (IWB)

Interactive whiteboards have been a part of corporate meetings in the work environment and have been used in parts at schools as well. However, the complexity of IWBs makes them a bad choice for teaching. That being said, interactive whiteboards do have benefits that the traditional boards do not offer.

Interactive whiteboards make multimedia presentation convenient which allows teachers to switch between different applications to give a better learning experience. The year 2021 will see the comeback of modern Interactive whiteboards with better features and easier usability.

Moreover, whiteboards will also be used to teach students through the virtual smart class feature of the school management system. Teachers using the school management system will be able to share their whiteboards with their students for better understanding.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is spread across different fields of work from your smart devices that increase your efficiency to the medical sectors and much more. In 2021, several educational processes will be handled using artificial intelligence.

The educational institutions will have to be creative about the use of AI in their workings. It can surely take care of many of the administrative tasks and smaller teaching tasks such as grading papers, creating and managing exam papers, etc.

School management software provides different features that make the work of teachers and administrators easier and faster. Online admission, online examination, class management, student and staff management, WhatsApp integration, live attendance, and many other features allow admins and teachers to focus on other important tasks.

Conclusion

The next year holds a lot of promise for the educational sector. Teachers and schools will have to be technologically trained to correctly use the technologies for increasing the quality of education.

Teachers have to clearly understand every nuance of the technologies that enter the educational sphere to use their creativity for better and more interactive study sessions.

Furthermore, 2021 will also see an increased focus on vocational learning to give students the experience they will need in the world outside their school. Students can choose which field they want to pursue from a young age.

Flexible learning will also be promoted in the coming year so students will use smartphones or other mobile devices to access their lectures along with other study materials. For schools that have adopted a school management system, these changes will not be as daunting.

School management software already provides various features that increase the productivity of the school by decreasing the workload with modern tools and technologies. For the convenience of the school, it provides a one-year free trial that allows the school and its teachers to get familiar with its features and how to use them. After that, schools can pay a minimal monthly or yearly subscription.
